I hosted my parents and grandparents for dinner tonight. My step-grandfather is a big history buff, so after dinner I should him some of the documents I found when I renovated my bathroom. Why they were stored in the bathroom, who knows? The documents are from one family who owned a farm before moving to my current home. Every store receipt/tax form/invoice from the late 1940's to 70's was saved, and this is one of them. I know it doesn't look like a bill or store receipt, it's a notice to turnip growers, but on the back it's a handwritten expense sheet tallying the costs of mower repairs, a side rake, salt, insurance, bolts, the veterinary surgeon and capons (which I just found out are castrated roosters!?!). Grand total $34.25
